National Lung Cancer Screening 'It's Good to Know' Campaign
The National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) officially launched in Australia on 1 July 2025, with the aim of detecting lung cancer early and saving lives. The program offers low-dose CT scans to eligible Australians aged 50 to 70 who currently smoke or have quit smoking in the past 10 years and have a smoking history of at least 30 pack-years (a doctor can help calculate this), but don’t have any current symptoms. This is Australia’s first national cancer screening program in nearly 20 years.
The Australian Multicultural Health Collaborative is working alongside community partners to promote awareness of lung cancer screening among five language groups, including Arabic, Cantonese, Hindi, Mandarin and Vietnamese-speakers. This community education and grassroots outreach will be bolstered by a paid ‘It’s Good to Know’ media campaign across radio, social media, and online video.
Please email lungscreen@multiculturalhealth.org.au for any further enquiries.
