Royal Melbourne Hospital consultation EOI

YOUR VOICE MATTERS!

AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN US AT OUR COMMUNITY CONSULTATION

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) and the Australian Multicultural Health Collaborative (the Collaborative) are hosting a community consultation, and we would like to hear from you.

WHY ARE WE SEEKING YOUR INSIGHTS?

RMH is creating a new Engagement Strategy.

We would like to know:

  • What has been working well with the RMH services and their engagement with you
  • What improvements need to be made;
  • What challenges have been encountered in the hospital’s feedback processes.
  • what needs to be done to ensure communities’ interactions with RMH services are inclusive of diversity in cultural, language and experiences.

Your feedback will feed directly into this strategy.

We want to ensure the experiences of multicultural communities are heard and understood, especially the ways in which different aspects of a multicultural person’s identity can expose them to overlapping, such as age, disability and sexual orientation and identity.

What we learn from this consultation will help us present the findings to the RMH to contribute to their development of a new guide for RMH’s engagement strategy. The results will directly contribute to the organisational understanding about why and how meaningful engagement should take place when care is delivered.

Your feedback will ensure this guide considers the experiences of culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Your diverse perspectives will be invaluable in shaping the new engagement strategy for the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE DAY

This consultation will be held on Sunday 23 June from 10 am to 12 pm, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Level 5 Meeting rooms. Proceed to the hospital main foyer lifts, take the lift to Level 5 where you will be met and taken to the meeting room. There is an information desk at the front entrance if you need assistance. Transport: Public transport around the RMH Parkville | The RMH

Some questions that will be asked will include:

1. What has been working well in your current experience with RMH services?
2. What needs to improve in your current experience with RMH services?
3. What challenges have you encountered when giving and receiving feedback?
4. What specific actions can we take to implement these improvements effectively?

The session will be interactive with opportunities to express your insights verbally or, if you’re not comfortable speaking in front of others, you will have many opportunities to write your thoughts and contribute to the discussion in various means.

Refreshments will be provided on the day. You will also be remunerated for your time at a rate of $89.6/hr.

Your insights will:

  • help enhanced cultural competency of hospital staff in serving patients of diverse backgrounds
  • Ensure more personalised and effective care that respects and embraces cultural diversity
  • Improve engagement of culturally and linguistically diverse communities in hospital programs and services, leading to better health outcomes
  • Foster trust, cooperation, and a sense of belonging among all community members.

With your help, the RMH will be able to develop a tailored engagement strategy that address the unique needs and preferences of diverse cultural groups, such as language-specific communication channels, culturally appropriate support services, and outreach events.
